Congratulations on the birth of your baby! This is such a special time in your family’s life. However, whether this is your first or tenth child, you may be experiencing some struggles feeding your little one. That is where I come in! I am here to support and assist you during your breastfeeding journey. I will work with you to achieve your feeding goals by providing evidence-based information, practical advice and a realistic feeding plan tailored to your unique needs.
I have had the privilege of being a Registered Nurse for 35 years. I started my career at Red Deer Regional Hospital working on the postpartum and surgical units. In 2002 I began working in Public Health as a Public Health Nurse doing prenatal education, postnatal home visits and leading a breastfeeding group. During this time, I realized that helping breastfeeding families was a passion of mine that I needed to pursue further. As a result, in 2011, I became an IBCLC (International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant). Then in 2013 moved into the position of Community Lactation Consultant for Central Zone where I practiced for 10 years. I have worked with hundreds of moms and babies with a wide range of feeding challenges. For example, I have experience working with twins, preterm infants, babies with latching issues due to lip/tongue ties, and babies struggling to gain weight. Also I have assisted moms with complex medical conditions, experiencing severe nipple pain or struggling with low milk supply.
On a personal note, I am blessed to have the love and support of my wonderful family, which includes one precious grandchild. And although it has been many years since I breastfed my children, I still remember what a special time it was. I would be honored to provide the support and guidance you need throughout this cherished time in you and your baby’s life.
