The risks of feeding a baby with anything else other than human milk are real. These risks are a concern even in societies where medical care and treatment for the problems caused by not breastfeeding are readily available.

These risks include:

  • Higher incidence of Type 1 Diabetes

  • Increased risk of SIDS

  • Higher risk of being overweight and obesity

  • Increased respiratory illness

  • Increased risk if meningitis

  • Increased risk of ear infections

  • Higher rates of childhood cancer

  • Higher risk of GI infections and diseases

  • Decreased effectiveness of vaccines

  • Inadequate development of jaw and facial muscles

  • Higher risk of Post Partum Depression
